Welcoming all abilities, come along and give badminton a go!

Tynwald Celts B had it all to play for on Monday, fighting to stay in Division 4—a point for them would do it, even if it would be at the expense of their own A team who would be relegated instead!

PwC Castletown Abbey B, however, had their own agenda, looking to take as many points as they can into their last match showdown for the title with Fencibles B in two weeks time.

Play started swiftly, Nick Thornley & James O'Meara (Castletown Abbey) taking the first two 21/11, 21/16 against Steve Baker & John Dawson. This lead was narrowly extended by Damian Peter & reserve Mark Needle against Ming Cheng & Mark Cheung 19/21, 21/14.

The evening then continued in a sequence of close games all going the way of Castletown until the second end of the 3/4 pairing match where O'Meara/Needle were caught out by Dawson/Cheung who snatched a 14/21 win back for Celts B, giving them a glimmer of hope. The difference stood at 28 points.

Peter & Thornley, however, were focused and without sympathy, quickly dominating the final match against Cheng/Baker 21/9, 21/6 to give a 55 point advantage and take the full 3 points.
