Vying for dominance in the South, Casltetown Abbey versus Rushen is always an event to be savoured. This time (Tuesday) home side PwC Castletown Abbey B took the glory by a decisive 14 games to 4.

Rushen 2nd Men Nick Fullerton & Dave Leigh had a tough start suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of Graham Coffey & James O'Meara 21/6, 21/8. Castletown Abbey 2nd Ladies Asia Ogden & Lina Desai achieved Casltetown Abbey's first 2nd Ladies straight win of the season with some powerful and attacking play, beating Caroline Whitehead and Vanessa Tranter 21/13, 21/18. 1st Men's pairing Nick Thornley & Damian Peter remain unbeaten this season and took their games 21/13, 21/18 against the Rushen duo of Adrian Edwards and Yanchun Wang. As the midway point approached Amanda Munro & Lucy Kerr gained Rushen some valuable confidence back by securing a comfortable victory in the 1st Ladies against Claire Townsend & Sinead Stephens 12/21, 10/21. The tally then stood at 6 games to 2.

O'Meara, partnered by Desai, dropped only his second game this season in a nail-biting first end against Fullerton & Whitehead 19/21, but soon got back to winning ways finishing the next two in record time 21/10, 21/5. 2nd mixed went similarly, Castletown Abbey's Peter & Stephens, down 18/21 in the first against Edwards & Kerr, pulled it back impressively 21/15, 21/7. The remaining matches all went to Castletown Abbey. 3rd mixed Coffey and Ogden versus Leigh & Tranter 21/11, 21/17, and 1st Thornley & Townsend versus Wang & Munro 21/13, 21/8.
