PwC Castletown Abbey B [236] versus Selborne B [179]

Home side PwC Castletown Abbey B took the full three points from Selborne B on Monday keeping their title hopes alive, a heavy blow for Selborne who will now need some good results in their final two matches to avoid relegation.

Castletown's 2 & 3 pairing of Damian Peter/Graham Coffey began tentatively against Neil McMullen & Paul Griffiths losing 14-21 before experiencing a colossal change of form winning the next game 21-4.

1 & 4, Nick Thornley/James O'Meara then took on Selborne's Alan Ferguson and reserve Shibu Augustian sharing their games 21-17 16-21.

2 & 4 Peter/O'Meara versus McMullen/Augustian was particularly exciting to watch, Augustian spending much of his time high in the air or fully committed and sliding along the floor, efforts that sadly are not given justice in the 21-15 21-15 scoreline.

Another sizeable win was taken by 1 & 3 Thornley/Coffey at 21-10 in their first end, but Ferguson/Griffiths clawed back another deficit towards the end of the second game for the slight consolation of snatching a 20-21 win.

3 & 4 Coffey/O'Meara versus Griffiths/Augustian was also closely fought 21-18 18-21, however the final result was sealed decisively when 1 & 2 Thornley/Peter found the most consistency of the night taking their final games 21-7 21-9 against a slightly frustrated Ferguson/McMullen.

Nominated players of the match were Shibu Augustian and Nick Thornley.
