The pressure of competition is always intense between us and our local rivals Rushen, this time it was a battle of the B teams. The home advantage (of playing on a Tuesday) was with our Designer Glass Castletown Abbey B team.
Following tradition the match started out with the level doubles, and a trend began to form. Although every level pairing went to three games, by half time we had managed to pull out a 7 to 5 game advantage.
An excellent start to the mixed was then made by our 4th pairing John Thornley & Sinead Stephens against Nick Fullerton & Abi Coulthard, and 3rd Pairing Graham Coffey & Hannah Clague against Dave Leigh & Julia Carrol, taking decisive two game victories and securing us the overall win.
The final games played slightly closer but disappointingly for Rushen everything went the way of Castletown Abbey to leave the closing scoreline a delightfully one-sided 15 games to 5.
